what keeps motor from coming up?

I am new to boating as you will be able to tell after reading this! Dumb question, what keeps the motor from coming up out of the water when you accelerate, it seems like it would just kick up on u, I have a 1980 evinrude 100 horse, I have not had it out yet.

The propeller thrust!
Try reverse. If reverse lock or trim system fails, engine will tilt up.
