"I have 150 evinrude johnson, and for some reason when i go from reverse to neutral or from reverse to forward i get jolted!!!! I have taken it into the mechanic and they can not find the problem. But its never from neautral to forward. It is also random! I have spent a lot of money on trouble shooting problem. Can any of you direct me to what could be causing this or had this happen to them. Thanks."

"I think you have a short from the black/yellow kill wire to the metal of the control box.
The black/yellow kill wire is the only wire in the control box that can deliver a strong shock.
Also, since reverse is always involved, it has something to do with the shift switch kill circuit."

"OR, you might look on the low

"OR, you might look on the lower starboard side where the shift linkage connects. There are a couple of wires there, down low sorta under the carb, one is black, the other black/yellow, and they go to the shift switch. On my engine they are inside nylon wire loom. The other end goes up the side of the engine to the powerpack area. Look for fraying there, at the shift switch location, too."

"Yep, just as JWB suggests &#4

"Yep, just as JWB suggests (silently), it looks like you do not have a shift switch. So, follow his lead, and look into the remote control box for frayed wires."

"I had the same problem last yr, touching the shifter and steering wheel was shocking.

My ignition lock was spinning in the mounting bezel , I twisted it back and locked it in place."
