What is this

Doing my spring check on motor and noticed my ground wire from tilt trim motor is almost broke off. All 3 wires from motor have a black hard plastic piece over them before they separate to single wires. No big deal but the black is almost broke off right at the end of this piece. So what is it and can i just cut wires off before it and reterminate. Can't figure out how to post pic. Thanks in advance

All 3 go into a single pigtail right? If so, it's easier to buy a brand new pigtail (the black plastic cover part) with 3 new terminals, and install them on all 3 wires, and then those will slide into the new plug.
