What is slow function on outboards

hi i have seen posts with peop

hi i have seen posts with people have problems
with outboards. ie does it have s.l.o.w. function
could someone explane what it means and does every outboard have it or just some makes models

Is activated by alarm switches (temp, No-oil, fuel vacuum)that shorts out a circuit in the power-pack and limits max rpm to about 2500rpm by cutting ignition pulses to random cylinders. The low-oil alarm is not critical for engine safety, and the circuit to the power-pack is blocked with a diode to prevent SLOW to be activated."
