i have a 1972 or1973 gm challenger crusader motor it could be a 396 or 454 it has a 7 bolt valve cover need to repower just need to know what it is to match up with new motor its rh rotation model number is 57612 any body .. thanks finally home
 
Sounds like an old Mark IV block though a picture would surely help...and welcome to the forum.

If you're gonna repower with new, you'll probably be best to get a new gear, too. all the new stuff is LH'ed and the 'newer' gears are full power with either shaft rotation. If you're gonna go rebuilt, probably a 454 'standard production' will be more than adequate. If it's a single screw in a heavier boat, may wanna look for a 502.
 
thanks makomark its a 454 rh rotation ya its a heavy boat 38 pacemaker twin screw so im going to rebuild the old motor becauase they say all new motors will not bolt up to trans or motors mounts dont have enough money to replace trans and shafts so rebuild old and everything bolts up.thanks for the welcome
