"Hello, I have a 1990 2.3 lite

"Hello, I have a 1990 2.3 liter OMC (ford) with a points style distributer system. I installed new points as a part of a tune up and within no time flat the fenalic that rides on the cam to open and close the points wore down and messed up a perfectly good day on the water. My question is, does anyone know of the a good grease to use to lube the distributer cam when installing a new set of points?? My "lubricator" felt that came with my new points is "dry". THANKS VERY MUCH IN ADVANCE!!"

"I'd like to use whats in

"I'd like to use whats in my grease gun, but my stuff is gold and .45 caliber. Good advise though, I'll just empty the clip into my distributer and that'll solve all the problems this POS is giving me!!"

"i ain't no fan of the 2.3

"i ain't no fan of the 2.3 believe me but i don't want to dump on ya.

Want my advice? Get it running and sell it, really i mean it.

Parts are tough to find. was a 3.0 motor i might say keep it.

Get a boat with a 3.0 nothing over 20 feet, with a good trailer merc.

Then you will get good gas milage easy to work on boat and parts galore.

Or do what your doing now suffer till you do sell it.

Sorry. Dab it with grease any grease.

Now to your problem whoever rebuilt the motor didn't use the right spring in the oil pump. So the gear will keep going on the dist.

Fix: got to yank the motor and the oil pan then the oil pump and change out the spring.

See what i mean by keep doing what your doing suffering with this pos.

I like the .45 nothing puts them down like a .45 believe me i know.

But now i use a .380 reason is kicks less so your more likly to hit what ya shooting at, great retention and shrooms great. Acquiring target is alot faster and is smaller to fit in places i could never fit my targetmaster.

Also ammo is alot cheaper there is a reason they call it the baby 9, and i never liked the 9 too many pass thru, i want it to stay in the body to tranfer energy and pass thru does not do that.

Good luck keep us posted and i'll help as much as i can."
