What function does this part do?

Hello.
So i was wondering what this Mercury Switch do? What function it does? (I mean about small box on block of engine with 2 contacts one of which is contacted with switch box, next one to the ground)

I want to do with rectifier regulator for charging and connecting battery and much more.
Can't find its characteristics, in particular the power!

Here is Mercury and a switch problem... Hardly an Evinruder will see your problem..
