"I am looking into buying a new propeller and the one
i took off my boat says 14x19 R. I actually need a 14x17 for my boat. But what does the R stand for, is it reverse rotation or right hand rotation???Any feedback would be helpful thanks!!!"

Ok my spare prop says 14x19 R

Ok my spare prop says 14x19 R and the prop i just pulled off the boat says Michigan P R 226?? What the heck is that im just trying to get the right prop.

both propellers look to be the same but im not 100 percent on that. Just the reason i ask is the prop is too much for the boat and I want to step down 1 size.

"You may want to try the spare

"You may want to try the spare prop (14x17) and see if you achieve the full recommended RPM for your engine at WOT (4400-4800). If you cannot, then you need a smaller prop (14x17); and if you go above, then you need a larger prop (14x21). The Michigan chart in the previous link will give you the correct numbers for the prop you need."

"My spare prop is a 14x19 R.

"My spare prop is a 14x19 R. With that Michigan prop
I can get 4400 WOT but i thought i should still step down a size. That Michigan link was helpful but i do not know my gear ratio, but I have my outdrive serial number???"

"ok, now that i have looked closer at both props i have determined that the Michigan prop that has no size markings on it has 4 inch wide blades that have
a steep arch to them and looked cupped, the other prop i have that says 14x19 R has wider 6 inch blades that look flatter and not as heavily arched."

"If you have a 4 cylinder engi

"If you have a 4 cylinder engine (AQ125) your gear ratio should be 2.15:1.

For your description, it would appear that the Michigan you have is a "standard" propeller, and the wider one is a "high speed" propeller. Your spare propeller should give you better performance than the one you have installed (despite not being cupped).....provided the engine is powerful enough to turn it at its rated RPM at WOT."
