" Hi,
I just bought a prop for my 86 merc 115; it's mounted on a 21 ft. alum. Starcraft Chieftan. The boat goes about 40 MPH at 5350 RPM's with a medium load, and the operating range is 5000 - 5500 RPM's. It seems to be pitched right with the current prop, so what I'm trying to do is duplicate the pitch (if anyone has any other suggestions for pitch let me know) .

The prop I bought is a 13.25, 17 pitch Michigan (aluminum), the prop that is currently on the motor has the numbers "4877344A40 17P" enscribed on it. I know it's a 17 pitch, but I'm wondering if there is anything else I can gain from the "4877344A40", like the size of the prop, and/or if it is cupped or not. When I compare the two they look fairly equivlant, but there are slight differences - I'd like to know for sure before I go running it (at this point I can still return it). Thanks,

Jon "
