wet motor?

After a day out I lift my cover and my motor is wet. Water never came over the motor. I'm in nj and its 98 degrees with HIGH humidity. Is the weather the cause? Anything to worry about?

If there is a big leak somewhere on the powerhead then water may have been sucked into the motor via the carburetors.-------That is an absolute no-no and quickly causes internal corrosion.-------So it might be condensation , therefor start the motor up without the cover to confirm this.

I'm assuming a 'day out' means you were on the lake and running the motor? Which means the motor was hot when you found it was wet?

Condensation on a hot motor? I don't think so...Condensation occurs on a cold surface.

This is almost definitely a leak, or water somehow splashed up under the cowling.

Pretty easy to figure out, dry off the motor the best you can, run it on the hose, if the motor gets wet, it's leaking. If not, somehow water got splashed up under the cowling.
