Well next problem clanking

"ok i just had the problem wit

"ok i just had the problem with rottewn stringers for the motor mount and i poored epoxy resin in to the cleaned out motor mounts and for thouse who dont know there was nothing there but wet sawdust it is a 1968 tom sawyer 155hp omc buick


now i ground out the gears between the outdrive and engine dont know what there called as im new to boats but so far i have replaced the transom seal,coil,alternater,plugs and points,and poured a new motor mount



please tell me if you know what the name of these gears are called, if you think i can change them in an alley, and how i might do this becouse i am new and affraid that i bought myself a loosing boat but just cant give up on it for some reason

tis a omc but do you know how these are changed i can clearly see that the gears are ground and do you know if why this has happened or what is a common cause of it
 
"common cause -if the faces of

"common cause -if the faces of the balls are worn at 45 degrees it's from running with the drive tilted up. More often than not, this wear also means the rear bearing of the upper gearcase will have spun in the housing and the upper will need repair too."
