I also have a 63 3hp Johnson with a weedless foot. It pushes my 10ft boat about the same as my 30lb thrust trolling motor. That seems pretty weak to me. Do weedless motors have less thrust than a normal one?

"Tom... I never really gave that any thought before. However, since the weedless lower units have their propeller angled downwards slightly, it would seem to be that the thrust would be less than a normal lower unit. One unit would be pushing straight back whereas the other would be pushing down and back. Maybe we'll get a thorough explanation here for the other readers/techs.
