Joe how much trouble to put in water pump one shop said the 1989 was harder to put in and it would cost 175.00 seems high to me

" Gary... The 1989 140hp Evinrude is no harder or easier that many other OMC V/4s or V/6s. Of course one can run into problems such as bolts frozen with salt corrosion etc, but that can happen with any engine. The usual amount of time (labor) involved to install a new complete water pump and run the engine out, double check etc is two (2) hours. The complete water pump assy is roughly $50.00 or $60.00. Hope this helps you figure the cost.
