I have a 1989 Evinrude 110 HP. Has anyone ever replaced the upper seal on the water tube that runs from the water pump up to the engine?
If you have can you please explain how you to do it.
I noticed I have a water leak on engine side of the tube
Thanks

Did this leak develop suddenly ?-----How did you determine it is leaking up there ?

I installed a new water pump kit, when I looked inside the upper housing where the water tube goes you can see the water marks coming down from the top of the water tube. Don't know when it statrted leaking as the last time I changed the water pump was about 5 years ago and I did not check the upper part of the tube at that time

Remove gearcase,remove powerhead,remove midsection.buy OEM service manual.

Are you aware that the midsection is allmost full of water when in use? Icant remember for sure but i think there's a small hole in the water tube.

All the water that goes into the motor must come out again.----Are you sure there is an actual leak on that tube ?---Is the motor overheating ?----Are thermostats in place and working properly ?

Not overheating, thermostat were replaced at the same time the water pump was replaced. I just noticed the water lines and thought that the upper seal should be replaced, however it seems like it is a fairly big job to replace the upper seal, so I will probably just leave it as is
Thanks for your help
