"I have a 1990 forester I/O with the 4.3 omc cobra. This past summer I have had it in 2 different marina's 3 times because of a vibration (this will be the 4th time). Every time I have taken it in they say the same thing..."there is water getting into the rubber boot where the bearing is which is taking out the gimble bearing". One of the marina's says that the water could be coming in from the motor side and that they would have to pull the motor to fix it. The other marina says the water can't be coming in from the motor side because the engine compartment is bone dry every time I pull the plug. My question is are there any other possible ways water can get to the gimble bearing? or better yet, what are the possible ways that water can get to the gimble bearing? Does anyone have any suggestions? Thank you!"
