"Does the water pump need to be replaced like a maintenance item such as plugs, or only when it isn't working. I bought my boat and motor 3 years ago, the guy I bought it from said he had just replaced the water pump and also gave me a new spare one. I have never had a overheat problem and the stream in the telltail is always strong.
Any comments out there?"

I replace mine every year as part of my annual maintenance."
