Changed water pump on 75 hp Johnson outboard. Bought the kit and replaced everything. Hook up the water tube when putting the lower unit back on. Tried water test water came out the peehole but not like it should. It was not a strong stream at all. Could anything else be clog or blocked. When the pump went I made it back to the dock but did not here strange nosie. Could the thermostat be bad. The motor year is 1979 it a good running engine.

There is probably some crap in the pee tube or fittings at each end of it. What did the impeller look like when you replaced it? Was it intact or were some pieces missing off of it? If it was broken, then remove the thermostat and check its operation and/or debris stuck in it. Should open at about 140 degrees, heat some water and put a meat thermometer in with the thermostat.

Then clean the pee tube fittings and try it again, bro. They are the smallest openings in the whole system.

The tell-tale stream is before the water goes through the rest of the powerhead. So the rest of the powerhead has nothing to do with the stream. Likewise, the thermostat is beyond the tell-tale. If it is weak, the hose/fittings are obstructed, or the pump is not putting out like it should.
