"I recently purchased a 1960 Evinrude, Model 5520, s/n 19730. Replaced water pump with new pump kit p/n o391391. Still no water being pumped. Removed thermostat and poured water down the inlet and outlet side of the thermostat housing holes. Both sides drained well. When installing the new kit I saw a big difference in the size of the impellers. The old one was much bigger. My questions are. Was I sold the right pump kit or did I need the bigger impeller? Will the water pump not work if the impeller arms are bent in the wrong direction as it's driven ? Hope I didn't loose you in my description of installing the impeller.
