water pump on 45 hp 1987 motor

The water pressure is not very strong when it is idling it does increase when you increase the rpm the water does not get hot when it is idling is this normal or should I be replacing the water pump it is a 1987 45 h.p. evinrude

there are no " tricks " to this.------------------You need to undo the shift rod connecter at the top ( removal of starter may make it easier )----------------remove trim tab ( hidden bolt ? ) a few bolts and drop the lower unit.--------------DO NOT TURN THE SHIFT ROD ! ----------After you do it the first time you will say " man that is an easy job "
