Water Pump Kit

Replacement Water Pump Kit doesn't fit into housing on a 1965 Mercury 500. Replacement Kit #18-3324. Round section of Lower Water Pump Base is too large for the cast housing that if fits into. Has anyone had this problem?

SN is 1762112 - 1965 Mercury 500

sierra only shows a repair kit 18-3207 and an upper kit 18-3507 but no full kit. does use the same impeller
there are 6 bases listed, If I had to guess you need the 18-3422 base

according to that serial number the pump base is 32766A2 obsolete
