"hi i took my boat out yesterd

"hi i took my boat out yesterday it was running good but later in the day i hit a big wave and the boat was stuck at 3000 rpm and then i did get out of gear.well i took it to my mecanic today and he took the filter out and said there was alot of water in it.and that he wud have to take carbs out and clean them.does this sound right,also it was hard to get boat to idle actually it wudnt idle any more i had to jump it into gear to move.thanks"

"it IS best but not always necc to do the carbs,after wtr intrusion...they can be bled.your fuel tank needs to be drained,a small amount of wtr absobant added for any remaining amount,all lines need to be flushed,and it would;nt hurt to add a little xtra oil on next tank.........dont let this engine sit,w/out attn to this."

i do have a water fuel seperat

i do have a water fuel seperator that where the water was and he thinks some water good have gotten in the carbs does that make sence.i think the filter was to filled up.is there a good treatment for water in the gas tank

"they make many water absobing additives...most,if not all,are mostly isopropyl alcohol...it is miscible in water,allowing it to burn out/thru..if ur filter was full of water,u got u a big water problem.still,all the things i suggested hold true.ask him,to take a fuel sample DIRECTLY from tank,allowing him and u,to see any quantity remaining."
 
no it wasnt totally filled of

no it wasnt totally filled of water he poured it out on a black tray and he wud see little bubble that he claims was water.the boat was sitting for a while.but dosent the separator prevent water to going in the system

so do u think what he is doing will be fine cleanig the carbs out and putting a new filter in

"why if he found droplets there is other problems,what do u mean by that. it wasnt all water in the filter its was droplets the boat was sitting for about 4 months.he said he wanted to make sure there was no water in the carbs so he was going to clean them up.if there is a little water in ther carbs will he beable too fix it"

how long had it been before you changed the filter?

is your fuel tank metal or plastic?

"a minor amnt of water,is not a prob,as that is what the large filter is designed to do...that sm amnt would have been in the very bottom....but,any water,in a fuel system is not good.let him do his thing and see how it goes..."

is there a way to find out when the motor was reman??? does the numbers have a meaning as far as a date or time frame?

"i just had the boats seals and engine redone.what wud happen if a little water did get into engine.wud it have a hard time idleing and how wud it run,also if i have a filter how could water get threw that,should u empty the filter all the time"
