There was a freeze plug out and I popped it back in. That fixed the problem in that area. Now there is a smaller leak in another area. Do you think it is another freeze plug or does it sound more like a cracked block? The oil looks good and the motor sounds good - there is just a stream of water comming out of the engine. I recently bought this boat. Owner said it was "lake ready". haha. It is an older boat and I can't invest in a new engine. Some people have said that if there is a crack to seal it with JB Weld. Any suggestions???

Have you heard of anyone successfully sealing the crack instead of replacing the engine?

"If the previous owner represe

"If the previous owner represented the boat as "lake ready", you may have some recourse. Saying that it's "Lake Ready" and selling it 'as is' can be two different things. He wouldn't need to offer a warranty but it shouldn't have any problems, either. You did run it or put it in the water before buying it, right? I would never buy something like this from a private owner without running it and taking it out on the water or doing a lot of checking out (compression, check all fluids, try every accessory or boat function).

I have heard of people grinding a small V along the center of the crack and filling it with Marine Tex. If it blew out a freeze plug AND cracked the block, I doubt that it'll end there. If the crack goes into the hole for the freeze plug, I'm not sure it'll be a long-term solution.

If you bought this boat recently, talk to a lawyer after negotiating with the seller. He told you it was lake ready and it clearly is not. He misrepresented the seaworthiness but after reading these posts, it doesn't sound like you did anything to avoid being in this position. A good marina would have done a complete survey for you and that would have avoided this whole situation.

Good luck with this."

When I start my engine, I have water coming out underneath the carburetor dripping down the side of my block. What could this be on my 2000 bayliner campre 3.0 Mercury in board out board engine?

Reid. this is a thread from 2006. You will get better results on a new thread. Also, this is the OMC thread. Your new thread should go in the Mercury forum. Include your model number ;)
