"I think that I finally finish

"I think that I finally finished working on this old 62 Johnson 10 hp because I had it running in a feed tank for several hours over the last few days--tonight I broke down the set up and emptied the feed tank thinking I was all done--went out just before dark and low and behold there is a small puddle of a grey/beige thick liquid on the ground under the motor and there are two places where it is leaking out around the cavitation plate--there appears to be two small holes in the casting of the lower unit--one on the underside of the cavitation plate and one at the casting seam where the lower unit seperates from the exhaust housing--the hole at the casting seam is ABOVE the top screw that is removed for changing the lower unit lube--so I figure either water is getting in the lower unit or I have the wrong lube, which is expanding and ozzing out--i have some pictures if that would be helpful--any ideas would be appreciated. tnx tom"

"I guess it's some water,

"I guess it's some water, so drain it and let it dry for a couple of days, it'll probably be fine then. Some photographs would also be useful
. My English is not that good, so that'll make a bit clearer. ;)"

"More than Likely that is unbu

"More than Likely that is unburnt oil in your exhaust tube. If your motor has sat for a while, this is common. Get it on the lake and run it. This will usually clear itself up after a run or two. Be sure to check your lower unit oil before every launch!"

How does one check the lower u

How does one check the lower unit oil? Do you have to let some drain out and then refil it or is there an easier way? Or are we just ensuring that it is full?
