There are seals on the driveshaft.-There is a gasket on the shift solenoid cover.---There are 4 wee o-rings on the screws that hold the propshaft bearing carrier.--There is a big o-ring on the propshaft bearing carrier.--There are seals on the propshaft.--There is an o-ring on the driveshaft bearing carrier.--There are seals on the fill screws.---One or more of these items is leaking !----Pressure test the gearcase to find leaks.----Likely best to install a complete seal kit on a 40 year old motor !

As soon as you play with it. More seals should start to leak.

DO CHECK if bearings are wearing out & there looseness is allowing the seal to wobble around & wear out . Gear teeth look perfect ?


It is old...............Find out ALL the parts & labor costs FIRST. It may not pay to repair it.
