someone left the gas cap open on my 4 Winns and water got into the fuel tank
we are being told that the two fuel pumps need to be replaced.
to the tune of about $1200 parts and labor. (and expense we really don't need right now.)

does it make sense that if water got into the fuel system the fuel pumps would need to be replaced? that they could not be dried out and reused?

Any damage to the pumps depends on how long they had water in them but if nobody tried to start the engine(s), there's no water in the pumps unless one is inside of the tank.

If the pumps are made of Stainless steel, I would just disconnect them and run fresh gas through, to eliminate the water before the rest of the work needed to purge the system.

No,.... The water should have been caught by the fuel filter,.....
