Water in cylinder

i have a 1984 75hp mariner wit

i have a 1984 75hp mariner with water in a cylinder but the motor seems to run how can this br posible with water in there and im trying to find out if it is possible or worth fixing

leaking exhaust cover or jug rot possible lower seal i had a 115hp inline 6had a 1 inch by one inch hole in the exhaust cover its worth fixing if you kno how to work on it yourself but if not its probaly done but look in to it there might be a simple fix doubt it though

A leaking water jacket gasket could also be the issue...."

it is water in the cylinder i pulled out the spark and it blew water out the cylinder its not the jacket i checked that could it a head gasket thanks graham and bj

There is no cylinder head on that motor.It could be a water jacket cover leaking.

is that the only plasce where water can get in the cylinder ps i only with i had his money i would not be trying to fix this motor haha

"there is gaskets on the exhaust divider plate and under the power head, you didn't say what cyl. the water jacket gasket is a common failure"

"due the compression test, leak down test. If its a head problem it will show itself. You should have saw something when you had the water cover off."
