Water flow reducer

I broke a small water flow reducer just before a T that goes to the manifold and then exits water out the back of motor. the reducer was just past the T and the other end went down towards the prop. any idea what it does? thanks

Its in a 115 hp mercury 4 stroke. Its a small allmost pin hole straight black barbed reducer just after a white barbed T.

115hp 4 stroke. 2006.
Its a small inline water flow reduce just off a T. one end goes to water flow pissing out of back of engine, one is coming from exhaust manifold, and the 3rd is going down by the prop. the line going down by prop has the in line reducer in it tat I broke.

Also what kind of stream should I be seeing pissing out the back of motor. I see about 8 inches of flow?
