"The impellor vanes are not curved forward, they trail backwards. Even if it is fitted wrongly the vanes will probably correct themselves fairly quickly."

"I'm assuming that you've installed a new water pump assembly? If not, do so.

The water must be a couple inches or so above the seam/joint where the lower unit meets the long exhaust housing. The impeller will flex to its proper position regardless of how it was installed.

If the water level and pump are as they should be, as Bob states above, check/replace the thermostat. Sounds like it may be sticking."

"I removed thermostat. The vanes are forward, there is oil in the houseing that comes out exhust. Iwill get new impeller. thank you all.billy"

If you used an aftermarket imp

If you used an aftermarket impeller it could give you this problem.Use only factory original on this case.

"And do not run the engine without a thermostat.

(Thermostat Purpose)
(J. Reeves)

Many engines are considered high performance engines and demand a thermostat(s), and many smaller hp engines also require a thermostat for the following reason. The pistons actually distort/twist off round when running. The thermostat is required to keep the outer wall surrounding the steel cylinder, and the cylinder wall itself at a temperture to compensate for the distortion.

With the thermostat removed, the difference in temperture between the inside the cylinder and the water jacket quickly reaches a point whereas (in effect) you have a oblong piston running up and down a round cylinder, or vice versa. Bottom line is without the thermostat, the piston and cylinder wall could be damaged in a short period of time.

The thermostat in your car isn't there simply to have the heater function properly..... think about it.

"Keep us up to date. Best to have a complete water pump assembly installed. The reasoning is that a new impeller placed within a used housing or on top of the bottom plate, which both may be scored or imperfect in some way defeats the effort.... that is, the impeller cannot function properly."
