Water ejecting from the legfoot join

"Hi, I have a 175 hp Johnson, not sure what year. I recently had the bottom end housing replaced as the other was damaged and had the internals swapped over. It was started up today and there is water squirting out the back (closest to the boat) of the join where the foot joins the leg. I don't think this is supposed to happen?? Can someone please help me?"

"Some of us put sealant between the two sections when re-installing, others do not. It is apparently not necessary and not a problem."
