Water Drain Plugs in 95 Merc 30

"I just bought a 95 Merc 3.0LX

"I just bought a 95 Merc 3.0LX with Ditigal Ignition. I found two brass plugs (screws), one on the exhaust and one on the block. Both produced a good amount of water. I opened the hoses and shook them good. I plan to put some pink anitfreeze in through the hoses. Are there any more plugs I need to pull?

"Suggest you check your manual. It will show you where each and every drain plug is located, plus how to change the drive fluid, change the engine oil and filter, grease the gimbal bearing, and a wealth of other info.

I have not winterized a 4 banger, but one block drain and one or two exhaust riser and manifold drains sounds right depending on the particular plumbing.
One oil drain on the pan is right, if that is your question.
See the post 3 down from this on some suggestions from both Guy and myself on antifreeze flushing. It may be a wise move if there is any doubt about having found all the water drains.

"I found the SELCO at the libary. It is exteremly vague and tells me less than what I have found on this board.

Rod, My question is how many drains should be in the block? I am used to one on each side because we have always had 4.3 and larger. It sound like you are confirming one. Let me know.

I will add antifreeze - the pink stuff - regardless.

I believe the I-4'

I believe the I-4's and I-6's only have the one block drain, whereas the V-6's and V-8's have two, one on each bank.
My Clymer manual shows a single block drain on the port side rear for the 140 and 165 models.
It also mentions a water drain on the rear of the PS cooler if so equipped, and a manifold drain as well as an exhaust elbow drain.

So I think you have it covered.

If the flow inside the

If the flow inside the elbow go upwards, then turns 180 degree downwards, you will have two drains. If it is more of a 90 degree direction change from upwards towards the stern, it likely drains from just the one drain plug on the bottom of the manifold, and the elbow will not have a separate drain.
You should be able to easily spot any drains that are there.

Thanks for the help. I think I have it figured out. I dropped a couple of gallons of the pink stuff in both the hoses just in case. Of course I will know for sure in the spring.
