Hi
I have a problem i have a 69 6hp johnson short shaft and on my boat i prop is in the water ok but the water cooling intake is a bit too high when les then 3-4 people are in the boat so i was thinking on maybe somehow extending the water intake so is that possible ?

"What is your transom heigth?

"What is your transom heigth? Sounds like you need to convert to a long shaft. It would drop the prop down 5 inches. I just went through that with a 67 - 6hp. - except I converted the other way, to a short shaft. You would need an 5" extender, 30" driveshaft, 5" extended water tube, and 5" extended shift connector. It is an easy do if you have those parts."

"well the problem is a dont ha

"well the problem is a dont have them ,i mean i could get them but it would cost me more then the motor. And because i have another outboard that was serviced a month ago with all new parts i really dont wont (for now) to give some extra money for this one.
so i was thinking on just extending the water intake with just one small tube that would be connected to the impeller and would go down to about the hight of the prop (but on the outside of the motor so i wouldnt drill anything.Im just not sure would the impeller pull water from this tube."

It might work - dont know. I

It might work - dont know. I do know that it would be easy to trade someone that wants a shortshaft for their longshaft parts. Your shortshaft parts are very good trade stock. Good luck.
