A new water pump kit was installed last May by a technician and everything worked fine. Last week I changed the gear case oil and found a lot of water in it.
I removed the gearcase and took it to a shop to have it pressure tested, (failed), and the seals replaced. I reinstalled the gearcase myself today.
Now after reassembly and running the motor with a flushing attachment and garden hose I don't see water coming from the two 1/2" diameter holes in the back of the upper exhaust housing. The tell tale on the side flows fine and warm water, (110 deg. F.), comes out the prop exhaust. There is warm air coming out of the two exhaust ports but no water. It used to flow both sides when warmed up. I ran the motor for 15 minutes at 2500 rpm and measured 125 to 140 degrees F around various parts of all four cylinders, so it is not overheating. I used an infrared temperature gauge to measure the temperatures.
Have I incorrectly installed the gear case somehow? Thanks for any and all suggestions.
