warning horn from VRO2 oil tank

I have a 1991 40hp Jonson oil injected model # TJ40ELEIA. I have been getting a warning horn that has been coming from my VRO2 oil tank. The tank seems to be using oil like it should. The alarm doesn't sound all the time, and I'm thinking the VRO2 system is working fine. Should I just disconnect the Wires coming from the oil tank or is there a part that I can replace to solve the problem, and just keep an eye on the oil level in the tank?

The oil tanks back in those years had bad senders in them. You may want to replace that.

Ok so I'll have to replace the whole sender pickup kit, well I think I might hold off on that for now as long as it seems to be working. Maybe that'll be a project for this winter! I've run the motor with that sensor unplugged for the last 4 years I think one more season will be fine. Thanks!
