"Hi all, Hope I can get some help here. have a 1990 Bayliner with the above engine. Took it out for the first time in 2 years yesterday to try and impress my new partner and her daughters. unfortunately i got a contant ticking sound coming from the warning buzzer. maybe two or three a second. I checked the water outlet and that was cool and strong. The oil was also filled upoto the 3/4 mark. I decided to undo the oil pipe from the oil injection tank in case there was a problem there and manually mix the oil straight into the fuel tank in order to make sure i wasn't going to seize the engine. I assumed the mix ratio to be 50:1! Hope i was right. Boat ran fine but after 10 mins or so a much louder beep came from the buzzer which got quicker as i ran the boat a little quicker. sometimes it went off as i increased the revs then as the day went on it was beeping continuously. if i turned the engine off and then instantly restarted it would come back beeping again within 5mins. All of the time there would be a fainter ticking sort of noise coming from it too. I was constantly checking the water coolant jet all of the time which was always cool and strong and as i knew there was oil within the fuel assumed that nothing major could spoil there special day up the Tees! I really only know the basics upon the mechanics of boat engines therefore if anyone reply's please dont be afraid to think your patronising me if you explain in a very simple manner! How can i check if it is pulling up oil from the Oil tank? and could it be a faulty buzzer? How do I check that? If i meed a new buzzer, where is the best place to get one? Hope someone out there can help me. Please be patient if i don't reply on the same day as i am a shift worker and currently work,sleep,walk the dog and grab a bit of time with my partner but will find time to check on here every day!
