want start

I have a 1989 30hp that will not start with the key. I've replaced the switch the coil checked both the salty switch and the nutral safety switch with a meter and both show good. The only way it will start is if I turn the key on and jump the seliond out and the turn it off with the key. I've ran a wire from the switch to the seliond and it still want start can someone help me please

You're not actually saying the engine won't start as obviously it starts when you jump the starter solenoid. You mean to say that the engine will not crank over with the electric starter when you engage the key to the START position.

The 20 amp main power fuse is probably blown... inline with one of the small red wires leading from the starter solenoid.

Thanks for the replied but that was one of the first things I checked. When I turn the key it doesn't do any thing. I have 12 volts at the switch on the red wire and when I turn the keg I have power going through the nutral safety switch. Back at the big red plug on the motor the red wire is hot there also any more suggestions

Sounds like starter silk pod to me I mean that's the only thing your taking out of the loop with the jumper wire
