I have a 99 johnson 70 hp and i replaced the vro with 1982 model fuel pump & took out oil tank and went to premix . I ran the engine for a while and there is no warning horn ? where is it located and what does it look like ? so i can unhook it . Any help would be appreciated !

Re: vro removed no warning horn ?

You still need the warning horn to alert you if the engine starts to overheat. To test the horn (engine not running), have the key in the ON position, then find the TAN wire protruding out of the ctylinder head and ground it to the powerhead.

Grounding that TAN wire should make the horn sound off. If it does not, find out why as that is the only warning you'll receive if the engine starts to overheat. Without it, the warning will be when the engine seizes up, turns brown, and smoke pours off of it.

Thanks JOE I was wondering about the heat warning besides the light on tach I was expecting a horn blast at any moment so it wont sound off for the low or no oil now ? GREAT
