Hi recently purchased 1999 sti

Hi recently purchased 1999 stingray i had some problems starting it so i overhauled the float chamber and the accelerator pump diaphragm new diaphragm seems smaller than the one i took out??. Took her out to sea yesterday engine ran fine for 10 mins but now seems as it has no power and will not rev just sounds like it sucking loads of air also the the pump linkages now seem very sloppy Any help welcome first boat.

Same happened to me on my 1999

Same happened to me on my 1999 5.0....the pump diaphragm in the rebuild kit was smaller..30mm....boat had a 50mm..and was also blue due to alcohol resistant composition. Your linkage is sloppy because the smaller diaphragm wont let the spring under it fully extend. You can buy a 50mm online
