Volvo Penta Won't Start 2000 5.7

I have the following engine:
Engine - 2000 model year - 4012033328 5.7 gsi pefs

The engine turns over but will not start.

Ran perfect last Monday when I docked it.

Fuel Pump appears to be working properly.

Just put on a brand new fuel filter and filled the fuel filter up with new fuel after I remove the new filter to ensure the fuel pump was pumping fuel. Removed and added fresh fuel to try to eliminate a fuel related issue.

Again-- turns over strong just will not start and ran and started perfectly the last time I used it (less then a week sitting)

Would appreciate any advice or check list.

Thanks a ton,

Kevin

Re: Volvo Penta Won't Start

Ran a few more checks-- still need some help.

1. Pulled plug-- looked OK-- little corroded on the exterior – but did spark when shorted to engine riser
2. Changes fuel filter and tried to start
a. Confirmed full filter was full—try to confirm fuel pump is working

b. Removed new full filter again and filled manually with fresh fuel--- trying to test the quality of my fuel in the tank (note tank has been refilled twice)

Where to go from here?

Re: Volvo Penta Won't Start

If it's carbureted pull the flame arrestor off and pump the throttle and watch the squirters in the carb for a good stream of fuel to verify gas is to the carb. If there is fuel you may have soaked the plugs so pull them and blow them dry, put them back in, give it a try. You say you have spark and it ran great last week so the compression has to be good, has to be a fuel problem.
