Volvo Penta IPS 600 compressor/turbo problem

2016 models. Under acceleration, the compressors come on around 2k rpm, but they shut off before turbo boost comes on, then start again, then stop again, etc. etc. Sometimes if I keep throttling down then up the turbos finally come on and we get on plane at around 2500 rpm. Once on plane and above 2500 we can run all day, no problem. Have changed engine batteries, compressor oil, and air flow sensors, all to no avail. Any ideas?

Did you ever resolve the issue? I’m have exact symptoms on a D6-400 .

I just went through this entire problem. Ends up being the turbos only last about 300 hours. They start to get a little play when they get hot and they will get stuck and won’t spool up. When you first take it out, it runs OK but then after it gets hot it becomes a problem. Then once there’s too much play, it will never spool up correctly even witj cooler temperatures.

Not the same issue. I swapped turbos and the problem stayed on the original engine. As OP said, once on plane, performance is per spec. The lag is at the high end of the compressor/surercharger. Acts like is going in/out. Pressure climbs with the other engine in sync right till the high end of the range then drops. I’m looking at either a slipping belt or a failing clutch on the superharger.
