In my fast motorboat a volvo p

In my fast motorboat a volvo penta gas engine (type A 170A/B30) has been installed. If the engine is cold it starts and runs without any problem. However after estimated one hour it stops. Only after 3 hours restarting will succeed and the motor runs for only 1 hour again.

i had this problem on on one the volvos i had a took a mechanic out with me to find the problem.i could be the same problem? change the coil a test AND SEE IF THE PROBLEM OCCURS AGAIN.WHEN THE COIL HEATED UP IT STOPED .WHEN IT COOLED DOWN MAFTER A PERIOD IT WAS FINE.HAD A COUPLE OF MECHANICS LOOK AT IT BUT IT TOOK ABOUT 3 HOURS OF RUNNING TO GET THE PROBLEM TO OCCUR.FOR THE FIRST 1-2 HOURS I FELT LIKE A IDOT BECAUSE NOTHING WAS SHOWING UP.ITS WORTH A TRY.

"Does sound like a classic coil symptom. Coils rarely are a problem but when they do go out, if they don't go out completely, they tend to misfire at higher rpms and tend to start acting up or get worse as the engine heats up. Be sure to get the correct replacement coil. Some require external ballast resistance and some do not."
