I have a 1987 Sunrunner 20' boat with a DP-290 outdrive. The engine that was in the boat when I got it was a Mercury 5.0, 305 with a cracked block. What engine model should I search for AQxxx when looking for instructions. I am trying to figure out how to align the engine and outdrive. I have alignment tools for Mercruiser and OMC cobra and I know the procedure well. The DP-290 with a spline shaft in the boat and outside the boat is new to me. It has a electric fuel pump, I did a good job lableing the wires as I disconnected them. The fuel pump power wire is connected to the starter with a purple wire going to the coil (I think) when I crank the engine the fuel pump works but when I stop cranking the fuel pump quits. I need to know where to connect the fuel pump so it gets power then the key is on. I think I can figure everything else out. Thank you

DM me your email address and I'll send you a copy of the Volvo OEM Shop manual that covers the 290.

I just pulled my outdrive out for a close inspection to see what seals I need to replace. I found what looks like cracks that were repaired with JB weld see attached file. The boat came with a cracked block that the previous owner had tried to fix with JB weld that failed so my best guess is he tried to fix the outdrive also. The outdrive is bulging out where the JB weld is, it is either from freeze or something inside pushing out. I was fixing the boat for my kids but I now think it is not economical to fix. What do you think.
