"Hesitation approx. 5 seconds when putting shifter
in forward (no clunking or noise goes in real smooth) When putting in reverse goes in fast (again no clunking or noise) Out drive runs real smooth ,all rpms? Any ideas why it takes that long to engage when putting in forward????

I had that problem with my SX

I had that problem with my SX drive and it was caused by being overfilled with gear lube. The level should NOT be above the flat spot on dipstick. Volvo tech told me that they are extremely sensitive where this is concerned...good luck
