"There is a black hose that is attached to some black plastic case that is attached to the engin. The black hose runs up to the carb but not directly into it. The hose attaches into the air filter thing on top of the carb. While running the engin, oil started spitting out of it. I took off the black plastic thing attached to the engin. It has two fittling that insert down into the engin and I see oil in there and there should be oil down in the engin, but I don't think oil shold be lowing up the black hose? Any idea what this black plastic casing is? or why oil might be going up it? I tried looking up the part for the black plastic thing and nothing comes up! It says on the part Volvo 1306399 and then has another number below 927-1. Any help Thanks!"

Its your crankcase ventilation

Its your crankcase ventilation. The black plastic casing holds a filter. Designed to remove excess combustion fumes from the crankcase and redirect them back into the carb to be burned. Usually when there is excessive amounts of smoke comming from here its a sign of a worn out engine in need of rebuild or overhaul. You could ge a good automotive block and transfer over all the marine parts from your old engine. Could be cheaper than rebuilding

"or it may be a stuck PCV valv

"or it may be a stuck PCV valve creating exessive cranckcase pressure, check the other valve cover, it will have a little valve and a hose going to the base of your carb/throttle body. check that first before throwing the baby out in the bathwater"

"There isn't smoke coming

"There isn't smoke coming out. There is oil spitting out? The oil only starts to spit out when the when I rev the engin up. at idle speed or when it's in gear it is okay, it's when I rev the RPM's up is when the oil starts spitting out."

sounds like valve seals to me.

sounds like valve seals to me.. you are getting to much pressure in the top of your motor which is forcing the oil out the only and easiest hole..

Plugs look good. I did a compr

Plugs look good. I did a compression check and I'm sitting around 125 on each. If it was a burnt valve or a valve seal would I have a lower then 125 in one the of the plug checks.

Another function of the crankc

Another function of the crankcase vent is to relieve pressure in the crankcase somewhat so oil dosnt get forced though the mains ect. Take the crankcase vent hose and filter off and make sure its clean. If its plugged up somewhat it could possibly create to much pressure in the crankcase which could cause oil to spurt out. Are you getting any oil out the dipstick?

"The oil is coming up out of t

"The oil is coming up out of the hose past the filter. So there is the crank case, then the vent then the hose to the air filter. So the oil is going up through the vent. I took the hose off so it's not going into the air filter and into the carb. The oil only spits out when reving high. There is not oil coming up out of the dip stick."

"Is this the vent you are look

"Is this the vent you are looking at?

Is there anything other than o

Is there anything other than oil comming out of this? IE: smoke vapor? Sounds like your crank case pressure is too high. Filter is probably plugged to the point where only oil spurts out under extreme pressure. Take that off and check the filter and replace/clean it.

Check and replace the oil filt

Check and replace the oil filter or the vent? A mechanic told me I should put some steel wool in the vent to control the oil from spitting out. So I have that in there but it still spits out.

"If you see the pic above, the

"If you see the pic above, there is a fitting on the top. This is where the oil is coming out of. There is a hose that is attached and directed up to the carb. This is the tube where the oil is coming out of. If you take the vent off, you can see the crank case."
