"Engine has only 250 hrs and has not beed run for only 2 hr in past 2 yrs. fter use of fuel conditioner, replacement pf fuel, etc, boat was run for approx 20 miles at 3200 to 3600 rpm. Performed well but on return increased to 4200 and after 3 mins.computer activated 2 short sounds and engine drfopped to est 2500 rpm.We slowly increased to 3600 ok with occassional slight stutter in engine.any sugestions?"

It appears that your engine is entering Engine Protection Mode. This can be caused by low voltage, low oil pressure, engine overheat or lack of exhaust cooling water. If any of these conditions exist, the ECM shuts off one bank of injectors to limit rpms to 2500. From the engine operator's manual, if the rpms are increased beyond 2500 the engine will surge and perform poorly.

I would begin trouble shooting by verifying raw water is flowing through your block, the engine temp. is within range and you have adequate oil pressure. Let us know. Good luck."
