"I have a twin engine Chaparra

"I have a twin engine Chaparral with 2 Volova 5.7 engines. Engines have less than 50 hours on them. My port engine will do the 2 beep alarm whenever I am running above 3500 RPM and the computer drops the rpms to about 2000. Engine repeatedly does! Consequently, I can't get the boat any faster then about 17 knots. Starboard engine runs fine. I have had a mechanic come out three times and seatrialed the problem three times. They hav checked all the sensors, switched water intakes to make sure proper water flow was getting to the engines from the the outdrives, changed, water pumps, impellers, and fuel pumps. Nothing has fixed the problem. Anyone have any other ideas? Another note... disconnecting sensors on engine has no affect on guages so I am wondering if there are other sensors that the mechanic may have missed Help please?"

El Pescador .. Thanks for the info... I had already referenced the section in the manual about the engine alarm. All guages read fine. Water temp and oil pressure are great and the mechanics even put a temp gun on the manifaolds and risers (118 degrees). THe intakes are clear of any obstruction (I got out and looked/cleaned myself) and the engine oil is brand new and well within the appropriate levels. With tht I still get the engine alarm only on the port engine at 3500-4000 RPM. Any more ideas?

"Greg, some sensors are connected to gauges and some others are connected to the ECM (the computer). A faulty sensor connected to the ECM will not give a bad reading in the gauges. You may need a scanner tool to find out what the fault is. You may also want to read through chapter 8 of the Seloc repair manual for VP (1992-03)."

"El Pescador - After all the troubleshooting I think it has to be a sensor at this point. (We have also switched the ECMs, switched sensors, put a diagnostic tester on the ECM in question which produced no error codes). My boat is a 2005 so I assume a need a later SELOC manual? Also.. are these manuals available online? I would like to see which sensors are connected directly to the ECM and play with those at this point. Thanks for your timely responses."
