Hello Everyone.

I am new to boating and have a 2003 FW Vista 248 w/ a V/P 5.0 GXi. In short I have had the boat for a week and ran the boat perfectly for 4 consecutive days. On the 5th day I could not get the engine to start. I have 3/4 of a tank of gas. The safety switch with the lanyard is in its correct place and a look at the engine revealed no loose cable or hoses. Could someone recommend me some other tests I could do before having to haul this to a mechanic. All help is greatly appreciated.

is the motor turning over?? is the starter clicking?? need more info.. are you sure it's not in gear???

Motor turns over just fine. S

Motor turns over just fine. Starter has plenty of battery cranking power. The engine is not in gear and the safety switch is correctly set with the lanyard.

"start with your basics, reset

"start with your basics, reset all 3 circut breakers on the starbord exhaust manifold, also i believe there is a circut breaker just next to the high pressure fuel pump. then check your fuses, check for spark, thats a start, going further would be a check of fuel pressure on the shrader valve on the pump with a gauge, not cracking a line and checking for fuel. you need spark, fuel and compression for a motor to run, check the basics."

I have confirmed spark at the rotor. I could not find the 3 circuit breakers you are referring to. I have the GXi-B I believe the breakers are on starboard exhaust on the GXi-A. On my engine I have a fuse box withe fuses and relays and the fuses are all ok. Would the breakers be somewhere else?

"also Walt, you have spark, so

"also Walt, you have spark, so now work on fuel, it is port fuel injected so you cant see if the injectors are firing, also you need a fuel pressure. both these need special tools, a noid light for the injector harness, which will tell you that the electrical side of the injectors are working, and the fuel pressure gauge, which should be 49-56psi if i remember right."

Thank you all for your help.

Thank you all for your help. So it ends up being I had some water in the engine. Spark plugs were removed showing the evidence of water in the engine and replaced while the water was removed and everything is now working. Thanks again for all who helped.

"So I am still getting water i

"So I am still getting water in my engine. From what I gather the only way water could get in is either through a bad manifold/riser, a bad head gasket or reversion. I originally thought it was reversion from not coming off plane correctly but my last use was just fine. Any ideas how i can distinguis if it is the bad head gasket or bad risers/manifolds? What other things would allow water to get in?"
