Volvo Penta 5.0GL PWTR Cooling System Question

Hey guys,

Probably an easy question to answer. I am researching a boat with a Volvo Penta 5.0GL PWTR engine. Does this have an open cooling system, or closed? Just curious if this engine needs to run anti-freeze, or if it just relies on lake water for cooling.

I tried to look through the manual which I found online, but couldn't find an answer on this specific model.

According the info that I see at Marinepartseurope.com, the [FONT=&quot]5.0GLPWTR, 5.0GiPWTR, 5.7GSIPWTR, 5.7GSPWTR, 5.7GSiPWTRCE were all raw water cooled.[/FONT]

Volvo Penta models [h=2]5.0GLPBYC, 5.0GiPBYCCE, 5.7GSPBYC, 5.7GSIPBYCCE were fitted with Closed Cooling systems. [/h]

If there is a "radiator cap" on one of the engine "accessories" it's "fresh water" cooled.
