Manufactured 2007 - 2009
Boat started missing and backfiring. Found #8 plug fouled (insulator had come apart and slid to the tip of the plug blocking the gap.
Replaced all the plugs, distributor cap, and rotor button. Had to order the plug wires. #2 wire wasn't seating on the plug as good as I wanted. In the meantime, I took is out and it ran great for several miles, until I pulled back the throttle to an idle. Then it died. After several tries would fire up then die. Once it lasted long enough for me to pull anchor then died. (SeaTow time).
Replaced the plug wires: no change
Pulled plug wire off distributor and cranked engine: No spark/arc between cap and wire
Checked kill switch: Can hear the relay engaging when depressed
Checked all Fuses and Breaker: Good
Swapped Fuel and ignition relays: No Change
Checked voltage at purple wire going to coil: 12.5 volts
Prior to replacing coil and ignition module, are their any other tests I can perform to further isolate the issue?
I have a warranty, but would rather replace something that easy and get back on the water, than wait the 3 weeks to get it repaired.
