I have a Volvo Penta 255A in a 1978 Apollo. I can not figure out if this is a Ford engine or a GM engine. The reason is that it has sat for the last four years with a good amount of water in the oil pan. It may need to be replaced. I can find GM 350 marine engines around but i cannot find a ford engine. I have read that the engine could be a ford 351 Windser. I have also read that if it is then replacing it with a GM 350 would require altering the engine mounts and using a different coupler.

"Yes. Both engines are GM 350 blocks. You will need to use the VP exhaust manifolds and risers, along with the VP raw water pump. The wiring on the older engines is pretty straight forward as well."
