Hi,

I'm totally new with these Inboard engines and sterndrive systems. I have boat which is fitted with Volvo Penta 225d engine year model 1984. Equipped with Aquamatic 280 sterndrive. First of all it took me 26 kilometers before sterndrive lead me into anchorage exercise with this boat. Tooked out the sterndrive and found out that upper gear sprocket has cracked and jammed the whole sterndrive->Also axle cut out from u-joint.

I have been hunting spare parts all over the world and noted that there is not so much spare parts available anymore.

I would really appreciate to hear what are the options for updating sterndrives that would suit directly with 225d engine.
Does Aquamatic 290 fit directly?
Does DP models fit directly?
What would be the best option to update sterndrive?

How about the engine? Is there some model that could suit directly if the engine goes bad?
Engine serial CU 39797

Thank you for the help!

I had a 1984 2460 Bayliner Trophy with a 225D engine and I swapped the 280 for a DP-E drive. Had to open up the transom hole correctly but other than that pretty simple.
